Graham Fletcher
Ambassador-Designate to China
Graham was born in Sydney in 1961 and educated at the University of Sydney, where he obtained an honours degree in history. He is married to Lorraine, with three adult children. Graham joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1983. His work has focused largely on Australia’s relationship with China. He has been posted three times to the Australian Embassy in Beijing (1986-88; 1997-2000; and 2004-08). In 2014 he was lead negotiator for the China-Australia FTA. Since 2015 he has headed the North Asia Division in DFAT, with responsibility for Australia’s relations with China, Japan and the Korean Peninsula. His other postings have been Noumea (1992-94) and Washington (2011-13). Graham will arrive in Beijing on 31 July. |
